Munge - Demunge

(1)

I finally got around to reading this today. Frankly, it does not impress me. The idea seems to be to use one file as a key to encrypt another file. The author calls it, 'munging.' The two files to be 'munged' are called the 'basis file' (the encryption key) and the 'element file' (the file to be encrypted). Once 'munged' (encrypted), the resulting file is called 'the mono file.' The 'mono file' can then be transmitted without regard for copyright laws (says the author). Anybody who has the key (the 'basis file') can 'demunge' (decrypt) the 'mono file' file to reproduce the element file. Big deal.

The method of encryption, binary addition - no carry, has been around for a long time. As to the legal aspects I can't comment, knowing nothing about such matters.
